Built on a belief that strangers can become friends in a single night
Faith In Strangers was born from a simple idea: the most meaningful experiences happen when different people come together in one room — drawn by the same music, the same food, the same curiosity.
Founded by Jeremy Duffy in 2021, the venue occupies a stunning second-floor space in Cliftonville, Margate, with panoramic views across the English Channel. What started as an empty room with good bones and better views has become one of the UK's most distinctive cultural spaces.
The name itself is the manifesto. Faith In Strangers is the trust you place in people you don't yet know — the belief that a room full of strangers can become something electric, something meaningful, something you carry with you.
Founder
Jeremy Duffy
Jeremy's journey to Faith In Strangers spans decades in music, hospitality, and community building. A lifelong obsession with sound systems, underground culture, and the power of shared experiences led him to Cliftonville, Margate — and to the space that would become FIS.
"I wanted to build something that didn't exist yet. A place where the sound system matters as much as the wine list. Where a sea-view dinner leads into a DJ set. Where you walk in alone and leave with friends. Every decision we make comes back to one question: does this bring people together?"
Under Jeremy's vision, Faith In Strangers has hosted over 500 events, welcomed artists from Norman Jay to Goldie, from Leftfield to Joy Orbison, and built a community of thousands who believe in the same thing: that magic happens when strangers trust each other.
